Saskatchewan Aerial Lift Training

Saskatchewan Aerial Lift Training - The mechanized access platform called an aerial work platform is a device which provides access to places which are otherwise not accessible to individuals and other machine. Also referred to as an elevating work platform or aerial device, the machinery is usually used to access high areas. Construction and maintenance workers usually should make use of aerial work platforms on the job. They are used by firefighters for emergency access.

Intended for temporary application, aerial work platforms are different from elevators, that provide permanent access to high places. An aerial work platform is designed to be operated by a single person, and is capable of lifting weights of less than one ton. Some kinds have higher load limits. There are different kinds of aerial work platforms; for example, there is a "scissor lift" and a "cherry picker".

Many of the aerial work platforms are outfitted along with compressed air connectors for power tools and electrical outlets. For specialist jobs, such as lifting frames for window glass, an aerial work platform can come with special tools.

Anyone required to operate an aerial lifting machine requires training, together with their superiors. Members of Health & Safety Committees and representatives responsible for inspecting aerial device work areas also should undergo training. Trainees would become familiar with how to utilize an aerial lift machinery. They would also gain an understanding of the regulations that apply to safely utilizing these devices. Regulations vary from province to province, and within federally regulated worksites.

Employees who work near or are required to be lifted by an aerial lifting device must know all the potential hazards. In a general safety session, an Aerial Lift Training Video could be shown to educate all of the staff who are lifted by them or work near them.

Most Aerial Lift Training Program would consist of modules which are focused on the following areas: hazard Identification; Aerial Lift Devices and Operating Controls; Platform Positioning & Park Positioning and Pre Operational Checks for Aerial Lift Devices. The program is intended to train employees on safely operating self-propelled, elevated work platforms and self-propelled, boom supported, elevated work platforms. A certificate will be given to employees who finish the program, signed by a qualified individual to be able to verify successfully finishing a hands-on practical exam.
